Syahrul Musa is a Senior Lecturer in Performing Arts at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), one of Malaysia’s largest public universities. His work spans directing, acting, playwriting, and research, with a focus on alternative and contemporary theatre practices. He has been nominated for Best Director at the Boh Cameronian Arts Awards—Malaysia’s leading performing arts awards—and was named a recipient of The Best of 2024. Recognised as both a critical thinker and an active practitioner, his writings have appeared in major Malaysian cultural and media platforms, including Dewan Sastera, Dewan Budaya, Seni Malaya, Eksentrika, and Malaysiakini.
