Happy Goldoni

The Italian theater par excellence is that of Carlo Goldoni: the revolutionary, writer, lawyer, the very human and modern Carlo Goldoni.
His deep knowledge of the psychological and social mechanisms which move the relationships between the characters takes off the protagonists of his works from the "commedia dell'arte", which remains in this way the only root of his dramaturgy and modus operandi of the traditional Italian actors. Goldoni is instead miraculously present, and with wide horizons as much of what was born in Italy and Europe in the eighteenth century.
My project revolves around the strength of this author. As I did with Bertolt Brecht in the play "MMBB", and later on with authors of poetry among the most diverse in the show "Push Up, the nullapensanti ", I intend to choose between the texts of the author, characters and stories with which to sew a new work that discloses the energy, power, musicality and poetry of Carlo Goldoni. Alone in the scene, even better if accompanied by a musician who can converse with me, so that the verses can sometimes be in the score, I will move voice and body animating the men and women of these stories.
Nothing else in the scene other than a booth, masks, voices, music and puppets. Past and present coexist in this show where the audience will have the chance to think, get excited and definitely have fun with a great classic of Italian culture.

Mercedes Martini

Mercedes Martini was born and raised in Naples, she graduated from the school of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan where she collaborated on some shows directed by Giorgio Strehler, and did seminars with Bruce Meyers and Carolyn Carson, among others. She worked as an actress with de Capitani, Bruni, Saporito, Sepe, dall'Aglio. She was an assistant director with Marco Castoldi (aka Morgan) on “The Secret Marriage” by Cimarosa and with Dario Argento in "Macbeth" by Verdi at the Teatro Coccia in Novara.
For years, she has been carrying out her activity of actress, also of monologues written by her, and her work as director of her theatre school on the territory of Liguria, in particular between Chiavari and Sestri Levante.
She conducted studies on bioenergetic and analytic/transactional psychology. She is the President of the association of social promotion T.I.M.E.U.P – Tutto il mondo è un palcoscenico (“All the world is a stage”).

Riccardo Barbera

Double and electric bass player, Riccardo Barbera began his musical studies in 1988. He began studying bass at the music school “CPM” Milan with Attilio Zanchi while he studied double bass at the Conservatory “N. Paganini” under the guidance of Franco Pianigiani.
In 1998 he won a scholarship from the European Union in Siena, participating in professional courses for jazz musicians led by bassist Furio Di Castri.
He works as a musician, composer and arranger in theaters, collaborating with many directors and actors, as well as with several international musicians in the fields of jazz, rock, ethnic and avant-garde.
He played all over Europe as well as in the US, Canada and Bolivia.
Riccardo Barbera taught bass guitar at the music school “MUSIKAREA” in Genoa (Italy) from 1994 to 2000. From 2000 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2005 he taught electric bass at the school “Città della musica” and the “Roland music school” respectively, both also in Genoa.

This event is presented as a part of the 15th Italian Language Week in the World, under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, whose theme is “The Italian of Music, the Music of Italian”.
