Hong Kong 2014. The umbrella revolution. A story unfolding from day to day – our very own story – before our very own eyes – and, come November, TEAR GAS will retell it again and again, night by night, week after week, by and for our very own selves, in this radical satirical recreational reappraisal of whatever is and has been happening on the streets of our city– and what may happen yet – since the protests began…

Maryjane Alejo, multi-talented actor-musician-chanteuse and co-founder of Manila’s celebrated Tag-Ani agit-prop theatre troupe, will spin her own special brand of super-charged musical drama with an improvised narrative based on a day (more or less) in the life of a domestic (more or less) helper and her Hong Kong (more or less) employer – each with a very particular perspective on whatever’s ongoing (or not) in HK’s democracy debate.
