Ella Kiang Singers

 

Madam Ella Kiang, founder of Ella Kiang Singers (EKS), studied vocal art in Hong Kong and Italy where she was invited to perform the famous Opera “Madama Butterfly” at the Opera House. For four decades since returned to Hong Kong, Madam Kiang taught vocal art in universities and academies and privately. With ardent devotion she has nurtured and developed many young talents in Hong Kong and overseas with great success. Ella Kiang Singers is a non-profitmaking musical organization. Its goals are to promote music appreciation and education through concerts and musical events, and to raise funds for charity organizations. Since its inauguration, Ella Kiang Singers has presented more than 40 choral concerts, opera and musicals. In 2010, Ella Kiang Singers held Charity Concerts for women victims of the Qing Hai Earthquake and the Chaplaincy of eight hospitals of South-western Hong Kong, and had successfully raised more than one million dollars for the people in need.

 

Ella Kiang Singers had performed several operas in the past years, including “Magic Flute”, Die Fledermaus”, L’Elisir d’Amore”, “Trial by Jury”, “The Mikado”, and “The Gondoliers”. The “Timeless Music Series” is another venture to promote beautiful music and songs by great composers around the world. Series (4) - Timeless Sacred Music - performed on 30 March 2012 received high acclaim. On 1 July 2012, the Singers performed the concert at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, “Celebrating 50th Golden Harvest” for Madam Ella Kiang.

 

Last year, Ella Kiang Singers had successfully presented a Musical Drama “Timeless Love - 愛．時空穿梭” Concert at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. The Fairy of Stars Ivana Wong (王菀之)led journeys with a child through space and time to learn about God’s creation, salvation, and love for mankind. The musical drama was beautifully presented with singing and acting by famous singers with lovely scene sets.

 

This year, Ella Kiang Singers has successfully presented the EKS 10th Anniversary Celebration Concert at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall on 8 July 2014.

 

Today, Ella Kiang Singers would like to perform a Lunchtime Concert “A Perfect Christmas 完美的聖誕” to share a Peaceful and Joyful Christmas and bring God’s blessings to all friends at St. John’s Cathedral.
